QUESTION: What is VSAT?
ANSWER: VSAT which stands for Very Small Aperture Terminal is a micro-Earth Station that uses the latest innovations in the field of satellite communications to allow users access to reliable satellite communications.

QUESTION: What does BUC Stand for?
ANSWER: Block Up Converter; Up converts and amplifies modem information for transmission to the satellite.

QUESTION: What is an LNB?
ANSWER: Low Noise Block Down Converter; Down converts and amplifies signals received from the satellite to the modem or receiver.

QUESTION: What is an LNA?
ANSWER: Low Noise Amplifier; Same function as LNB except no down conversion only amplification.

QUESTION: What does OMT stand for?
ANSWER: Ortho (or orthogonal) Mode Transducer; This device separates and directs signals of two different polarities, i.e. Horizontal and Vertical or LHCP and RHCP.

QUESTION: What are the advantages of Satellite IP Access compared to terrestrial Internet services?
ANSWER: IP Access offers a broadband Internet service, which is completely independent from local Telco companies. The persuasive bandwidth is comparable and exceeds the performance of DSL and cable modems.

QUESTION: What are possible applications for internet satellite services?
ANSWER: VSAT Satellite IP connectivity can be used in principle for all applications which are based on IP connectivity, including: Internet access, corporate network infrastructure (WAN, VPN), digital video streaming (DVB), distance education, video conferencing, voice over IP (VOIP).

QUESTION: What does "two-way" service mean?
ANSWER: "Two-way" service means that data is both downloaded and uploaded via satellite. Some satellite systems, one-way systems, download via satellite, but upload via your telephone line through a dial-up modem.

QUESTION: What about the IP Backbone connectivity arrangements?
ANSWER: Multiple STM-1’s (15 STM-1’s redundancy) to Tier-1 Internet cloud backbone connectivity.

QUESTION: What is the size of the antenna required?
ANSWER: It depends on the country & the remote site location; it varies from 0.96m to 1.2m.
